If you love the stylish look of wood, but need flooring that fits an active lifestyle, there is no need to sacrifice. There are now many water-resistant flooring options available in many different material types that suit any budget, lifestyle and décor.
When searching for flooring for your kid-friendly or pet-friendly space, water-resistant floors are a wonderful option.
But what makes flooring water-resistant? And, what are the different constructions available?
Below, are some important things you should know about water resistance and the types of water-resistant flooring available at Carpets Plus.
What Makes Flooring Water Resistant?
Normally when water makes contact with flooring and is left to pool or sit upon non-water resistant or wood flooring, the moisture will soak into the board and to the core of the plank, which will cause it to warp and expand. When floorboards become water damaged, the floor now has irreversible damage and can begin to develop mildew.
When flooring is water-resistant, this means there’s an additional barrier that blocks moisture from soaking into the core for a certain amount of time. Water-resistance means that direct contact with water will not result in damage, but the water will still need to be wiped away before it can get past the barrier.
